Full Body Brightening · quick answer

What full body whitening means, in one paragraph

Full body whitening, more accurately called body brightening, is a dermatologist-led plan to even out darker or sun-damaged areas on the body, such as underarms, elbows, knees, the back or chest. It combines treatments like laser toning, medical peels, prescription topicals and sometimes antioxidant IV drips. It does not bleach healthy skin. At Ever Skin Clinic, a board-certified dermatologist first identifies the cause of each dark area, then builds a safe, staged plan that fits your skin type and travel dates.

The approach

What is full body whitening?

Darker patches on the body usually have a cause: friction, shaving, hormonal change, past acne or inflammation, sun exposure or, sometimes, a medical condition such as acanthosis nigricans. Modern body brightening treats these causes and the excess pigment they leave, rather than lightening your natural skin colour.

Plans are built from the same tools we use on the face, adapted for larger areas: low-energy laser toning, medical peels and topicals, and optional antioxidant drips such as glutathione IV. Our skin brightening overview explains the facial options.

Treatments a body plan may include

  • Laser toning for pigment and uneven tone on larger areas
  • Medical body peels to exfoliate and fade surface darkening
  • Prescription topicals such as pigment-regulating creams
  • IV drips (glutathione, vitamin C) as optional support
  • Treatment of the cause , for example folliculitis, friction or shaving irritation

Is it right for you?

Who is a good candidate?

Body brightening suits people with patchy darkening they want to even out, such as darker underarms, inner thighs, knees or elbows, or freckling and sun damage on the shoulders and back. Darker skin types can be treated, but settings must be cautious to avoid rebound pigmentation, so experience matters.

Sudden or spreading dark patches can signal a medical problem, so your dermatologist may suggest checks before cosmetic treatment.

A body brightening plan may help if you have

  • Dark underarms, elbows, knees or inner thighs
  • Marks left after acne, insect bites or ingrown hairs on the body
  • Sun damage or freckling on the back, chest or arms
  • Uneven tone you would like to even out before an event
  • Realistic goals and time for a staged course

Your visit

How a body brightening plan works

Each session is planned around the areas you want treated, so timings vary from about 20 minutes to an hour.

  1. Diagnosis A board-certified dermatologist examines each area, asks about friction, shaving and medicines, and agrees priorities with you.
  2. Plan We choose laser, peel, topical and drip options to match your skin type and how long you are in Seoul.
  3. Treatment Sessions are carried out with conservative settings, with test areas for darker skin where needed.
  4. Home care You leave with a home routine and sunscreen advice so results can continue after you fly home.

Recovery & safety

Recovery, side effects and safety

Laser toning and drips usually leave only brief redness or a small bruise. Peels can cause tightness and flaking for several days. The main risk with any brightening treatment, especially on darker skin, is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or patchy lightening if settings are too strong, which is why we start gently.

Tell your dermatologist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a recent tan, take photosensitising medicines or isotretinoin, or have used strong bleaching creams. We do not use unregulated whitening products or injections.

Aftercare tips

  • Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed treated areas every day
  • Avoid tanning and long sun exposure during the course
  • Reduce friction with loose clothing on treated areas
  • Avoid shaving or waxing treated areas for a few days after peels
  • Use only the products your dermatologist recommends

Questions we hear every day

Full Body Brightening FAQ

Will full body whitening change my natural skin colour?

No. Safe treatments aim to fade excess pigment and even out patches caused by sun, friction or inflammation. They do not permanently lighten healthy skin, and we do not offer bleaching. Your dermatologist will explain what is realistic for each area.

How many sessions will I need?

Most body plans need several sessions over weeks or months, because body skin heals more slowly and pigment fades gradually. Underarms or knees may need a different number of sessions from the back or arms. Your dermatologist will give you an estimate after examining each area.

Is it safe for darker skin?

Yes, with care. Darker skin has a higher risk of rebound pigmentation, so we use gentle laser settings, test areas and pre-treatment topicals where needed. Please tell us about any previous reactions to lasers or peels.

Is there downtime?

Laser toning and IV drips usually have little downtime. Body peels can cause a few days of tightness and flaking. Most patients continue normal activities, but you should avoid tanning and heavy sun exposure during the course.

Can I start treatment during a short trip?

Yes. We can start with laser toning or a peel and give you a home routine to continue after you leave. Because results build over several sessions, a short visit is best seen as the start of a plan rather than a complete course.
