What is exosome therapy for acne?
Acne leaves skin inflamed, red and sometimes scarred, and procedures used to treat it can leave the skin sensitive for a while. Exosome solutions are used to support the skin's natural repair after these procedures. They are delivered through tiny channels made by microneedling or applied after laser, so that more of the solution reaches the skin.
Exosomes are also used beyond acne for skin quality; see our main exosome therapy page. Compared with PRP, which uses growth factors from your own blood, exosomes are a prepared product and need no blood draw.

Who is a good candidate?
Exosome therapy suits patients whose acne is largely controlled but who are left with red or brown marks, uneven texture or shallow scars, and those whose skin becomes irritated easily after procedures. If you still have frequent active breakouts, we usually treat those first through our acne programme.

What happens during treatment
A session usually takes about an hour including numbing.
- Assessment A board-certified dermatologist examines your acne, marks and scars and decides how exosomes fit your plan.
- Numbing Numbing cream is applied for about 30 to 40 minutes if microneedling is planned.
- Treatment Microneedling or laser is performed and the exosome solution is applied into the treated skin.
- Soothing The skin is calmed, and aftercare and the timing of the next session are explained.

Recovery, side effects and aftercare
Redness, mild swelling and tightness are common for one to two days after microneedling, and small pinpoint marks may be visible briefly. Breakouts, irritation or, rarely, infection or allergic reaction can occur. Long-term data on exosome products are still limited, so we use them as one part of an evidence-based plan.
Tell your dermatologist if you have active infection or cold sores, are taking or recently took isotretinoin, have a bleeding disorder or keloid tendency, have known allergies, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Aftercare tips
- Avoid make-up for the rest of the day
- Use only gentle cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen for a few days
- Skip saunas, swimming and intense exercise for 1 to 2 days
- Do not pick or scrub the skin
- Pause retinoids and acids until your dermatologist advises

Exosome Therapy for Acne FAQ
Does exosome therapy cure acne?
No. Exosomes support skin recovery and may help marks and texture, but they do not control the oil, clogged pores and bacteria behind active acne. Those need treatments such as peels, laser, topical care or medication, which your dermatologist will combine as needed.
How many sessions will I need?
Many patients have about three to six sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, depending on the marks or scars being treated. Improvement builds gradually as the skin renews over several weeks.
Is it painful?
The exosome solution itself is not painful, but the microneedling used to deliver it can feel prickly. Numbing cream is applied beforehand, and most patients find it tolerable.
Exosomes or PRP: which is better for acne scars?
Both are used to support collagen renewal with microneedling. PRP uses your own blood, while exosomes are a prepared solution with no blood draw. Evidence for both is still evolving; your dermatologist will suggest the option that fits your skin and preferences.
Can I have it during a short trip to Seoul?
Yes. Downtime is usually one to two days of redness, so it fits a short stay. A full course works best, so let us know your travel dates and we can space sessions accordingly.
