HydraFacial · quick answer
What HydraFacial does, in one paragraph
HydraFacial is a multi-step medical facial that uses a patented vortex handpiece to cleanse, gently exfoliate, extract debris from pores and infuse hydrating serums such as hyaluronic acid, peptides and antioxidants in a single session. It suits most skin types, especially dull, dehydrated or congested skin, and leaves the skin smoother and more hydrated with little or no downtime. At Ever Skin Clinic in Apgujeong, a dermatologist reviews your skin and selects the serums and any add-ons to fit your concerns.

The treatment
What is HydraFacial?
HydraFacial is a branded hydradermabrasion system. Its spiral-tipped handpiece creates a vortex that loosens dead skin and lifts out oil and debris while delivering serums at the same time, so exfoliation and hydration happen together. A gentle acid peel step helps loosen pore contents before extraction, without the sting of a stronger chemical peel.
It is one of the gentlest treatments in our pore and texture range. For very oily, blackhead-prone skin, Aqua Peel is a similar alternative, and HydraFacial is often added before or after laser toning or boosters.
The main steps
- Cleanse and exfoliate - removes surface oil and dead cells
- Gentle peel - a mild acid solution loosens debris in pores
- Extract - vortex suction clears congested pores
- Hydrate - serums with hyaluronic acid, peptides and antioxidants
- Optional add-ons - LED or targeted boosters for specific concerns
Is it right for you?
Who is a good candidate?
HydraFacial suits most skin types and tones, including many people with sensitive skin, because it is gentle and adjustable. It is popular with patients who want a quick refresh, people with dehydrated skin after flights or seasonal changes, and those who want regular maintenance between other treatments.
It improves the surface rather than structural concerns. Deep wrinkles, sagging, acne scars and melasma need other treatments, which your dermatologist can combine with HydraFacial, for example pore tightening for enlarged pores.
HydraFacial may help if you want to
- Rehydrate dry, tight or flaky skin
- Brighten a dull complexion
- Clear mild congestion and blackheads
- Prepare your skin before an event
- Keep skin healthy between laser or booster treatments

Recovery, side effects and aftercare
Most people have no downtime. Mild redness or tightness can occur and usually fades within a few hours. Very sensitive skin may tingle during the peel step, and occasionally a few small breakouts appear as pores clear.
Tell the team before treatment if you take isotretinoin or strong retinoids, have active rosacea, eczema, sunburn, a cold sore or infection, or are allergic to any skincare ingredients, including salicylic acid or shellfish-derived ingredients in some serums.
Aftercare tips
- Wait a few hours before applying make-up
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily
- Avoid scrubs and strong acids for 2 days
- Skip saunas and swimming pools on treatment day
- Keep skin moisturised, especially on flights
Questions we hear every day
HydraFacial FAQ
Does HydraFacial hurt?
No, most people find it comfortable, describing it as a cool, gentle suction. The peel step may tingle briefly on sensitive skin. No numbing is needed and the intensity can be adjusted.
How often should I get a HydraFacial?
For maintenance, many patients have one every four to six weeks. If you are addressing congestion or dullness, sessions may be closer together initially. Your dermatologist will suggest a schedule based on your skin.
How long do HydraFacial results last?
The immediate glow and hydration typically last about a week or so, while regular sessions help maintain clearer, smoother skin over time. Results depend on your skin type and home care.
HydraFacial or Aqua Peel: which should I choose?
Both combine suction with cleansing and hydrating solutions. HydraFacial is often chosen for hydration and a gentle refresh, while Aqua Peel is popular for oily, blackhead-prone skin. Your dermatologist will recommend one for your skin.
Is HydraFacial a good choice before a flight or event?
Yes. With little or no downtime, it is a popular choice for visitors and before events. Allow a few hours for any redness to settle, and keep your skin moisturised on long flights.
