Acne Facials · quick answer
What an acne facial does, in one paragraph
A medical acne facial is a clinic treatment that deep-cleanses, exfoliates and hygienically extracts clogged pores, then calms the skin with targeted products. It helps blackheads, whiteheads and mild breakouts and reduces the urge to squeeze spots at home, which can cause marks and scars. At Ever Skin Clinic, a board-certified dermatologist assesses your acne first, and the facial is tailored to your skin and often combined with a peel, LED or HydraFacial.

The treatment
What is a medical acne facial?
Unlike a spa facial, a medical acne facial is planned around your acne type and uses clinical-strength products and sterile extraction. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells that block pores, extraction clears blackheads and whiteheads safely, and soothing steps reduce redness. When needed, a mild acid such as a salicylic or sugar-based acid is used to loosen congestion.
For deeper cleansing and hydration we may use HydraFacial, and for stronger exfoliation a chemical peel. Adding LED light at the end can help calm inflamed spots.
What an acne facial can help with
- Clogged pores - clears blackheads and whiteheads
- Mild breakouts - reduces congestion and inflammation
- Oily skin - helps balance shine between visits
- Not enough alone for cystic or scarring acne, which needs medical treatment
Is it right for you?
Who is a good candidate?
Acne facials suit teenagers and adults with congested, oily or breakout-prone skin, including those who are also using prescription treatments. They are also a gentle option during a short trip, because recovery is quick.
If you have painful cysts or nodules, your dermatologist will focus on medical treatment, such as laser or oral medication, before extraction.
An acne facial may suit you if you have
- Many blackheads or whiteheads
- Oily skin with frequent small breakouts
- Congestion on the nose, chin or forehead
- Acne on the back or chest that is hard to reach
- A habit of squeezing spots at home

Recovery, side effects and aftercare
Mild redness is common for a few hours, and small marks at extraction sites can last a day or two. Some people have a short-lived purge of breakouts after the first sessions. Rarely, irritation or a reaction to a product occurs.
Tell the team if you use isotretinoin, retinoids or exfoliating acids, have sensitive skin, eczema or rosacea, a history of cold sores, or any allergies to skincare ingredients.
Aftercare tips
- Avoid make-up for the rest of the day if possible
- Do not pick or squeeze after the facial
- Skip scrubs and strong acids for 2 to 3 days
- Use a non-comedogenic moisturiser and daily sunscreen
- Follow the home routine your dermatologist recommends
Questions we hear every day
Acne Facials FAQ
Is extraction painful?
Extraction can feel uncomfortable, especially on the nose and chin, but it is brief. Softening the skin first makes it easier. Tell the team if you are sensitive so they can adjust the pressure or take breaks.
How often should I have an acne facial?
Many patients come every two to four weeks while acne is active, then less often for maintenance. Your dermatologist will suggest a frequency based on your skin and other treatments.
Will my skin look worse after the facial?
You may be slightly red for a few hours and have small marks where pores were cleared. Some people notice a few new spots after the first sessions as congestion comes to the surface. This usually settles quickly.
Is an acne facial enough to treat my acne?
For mild congestion it can make a clear difference, especially with a good home routine. Moderate to severe or cystic acne usually needs peels, laser or medication too, which your dermatologist will plan.
Can I have an acne facial before a flight or event?
Yes, downtime is minimal, though we suggest leaving a day or two before an important event in case of redness or extraction marks. It is a practical treatment during a short stay in Seoul.
