InMode · quick answer
What InMode does, in one paragraph
InMode is a radiofrequency platform with different handpieces for different jobs. Forma delivers bipolar RF heat to tighten skin and stimulate collagen, while FX combines RF with pulsed electrical energy to target small, stubborn fat pockets such as under the chin or along the jawline. Together they are used to firm and define the lower face with little downtime. At Ever Skin Clinic, a board-certified dermatologist decides which InMode treatments suit your face and combines them with lifting or contouring where needed.

What is InMode?
InMode is not a single treatment but a platform. Bipolar RF passes current between two electrodes, so heat is concentrated in a controlled zone with real-time temperature monitoring. Forma uses this to warm the dermis and tighten skin gradually. FX adds high-voltage pulses designed to affect fat cells in small, localised areas, which is why InMode is often used in non-surgical face slimming and double chin plans.
InMode firms and contours rather than giving deep lift, so it is commonly paired with focused ultrasound such as Ultherapy. For an overview of radiofrequency options, see RF skin tightening.
What InMode is used for
- Forma — RF heating for skin firmness and texture
- FX — targeting small fat pockets under the chin and along the jawline
- Jawline definition — combining fat reduction and tightening
- Lower-face contouring — often with jaw Botox or HIFU
- Maintenance — no-downtime firming between other treatments
Is it right for you?
Who is a good candidate?
InMode suits people with a soft or blurred jawline, mild fullness under the chin, early laxity or puffiness in the lower face, and those who want to look more defined without injections or downtime.
It is not a weight-loss treatment and works best on small, localised fat areas. If sagging is marked, your dermatologist will usually add HIFU or threads; if width comes from muscle, jaw Botox is more effective.
InMode may suit you if you have
- Mild fullness under the chin
- A jawline that has lost definition
- Early laxity of the lower face
- Puffiness that makes the face look heavy
- Limited time for recovery

What happens during treatment
InMode sessions involve no needles, so they fit easily into a busy day or short stay in Seoul.
- Assessment A board-certified dermatologist examines fat, laxity and muscle and chooses the handpieces and areas.
- Preparation Make-up is removed and a conductive gel is applied to the treatment area.
- RF treatment The handpiece moves continuously over the skin while temperature is monitored, usually for about 20 to 60 minutes.
- Plan ahead We explain aftercare and suggest whether a short series or combination with other treatments would help.

Recovery, side effects and aftercare
Redness and warmth are common and usually fade within hours. After FX, mild swelling, tenderness or a tingling sensation may last a day or two. Uncommon effects include small blisters, temporary nodules or, rarely, burns, which temperature monitoring and careful technique help prevent.
Tell your dermatologist if you have a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, metal implants in the area, are pregnant, have an active skin infection, recent fillers or threads in the treatment zone, or a history of keloids.
Aftercare tips
- Drink plenty of water after fat-targeting treatment
- Use gentle skincare and moisturise for a few days
- Apply sunscreen daily
- Avoid saunas and very hot baths for 1 to 2 days
- Keep sessions at the interval your dermatologist suggests
Questions we hear every day
InMode FAQ
Does InMode hurt?
Most patients feel warmth that builds gradually; the device monitors temperature to keep it within a safe range. FX can feel like brief, stronger pulses. Settings can be adjusted, so tell your dermatologist if any area is uncomfortable.
How many sessions do I need?
Some patients notice firmer skin after one session, but contouring is usually better with a short series spaced a few weeks apart. Your dermatologist will suggest a plan based on your goals and how long you are in Seoul.
Is InMode a substitute for jaw Botox?
No. InMode targets skin and small fat pockets, while jaw Botox reduces a large masseter muscle. If your jaw looks wide because of muscle, Botox is more effective, and the two are often combined.
How long do results last?
Tightening results often last several months, and fat reduced in treated areas tends to stay reduced if weight is stable. Ageing continues, so maintenance sessions are common.
Is there downtime?
Usually very little. Redness fades within hours and mild swelling or tenderness after FX can last a day or two, so most patients return to normal activities straight away.
