During your first dermatology consultation in Korea, you register with your passport, complete a health questionnaire, and the doctor examines your skin and discusses your goals. You then receive a treatment plan with a price quote, sign a consent form if you agree, and get aftercare instructions after treatment.
1. Before You Arrive
- Bring your passport.
- Prepare a list of medications, supplements and allergies.
- Bring photos or records of previous fillers, lasers or peels.
- Arrive without heavy makeup on the area to be examined.
2. Registration and Questionnaire
At reception, staff register you with your passport. The health questionnaire asks about:
- Your skin concern and how long you have had it
- Current medications and allergies
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Previous cosmetic treatments and their dates
- History of keloid scars, cold sores or pigmentation after injury
3. The Doctor's Examination
- Visual examination: the doctor looks at your skin in good light.
- Close inspection: a magnifying device called a dermatoscope may be used for spots and pigmentation.
- Skin imaging: some clinics take facial images to record pigmentation, redness and texture.
- Goals: the doctor asks what you want to change and how much downtime your trip allows.

FAQ
Do I need to prepare anything before my first consultation?
Bring your passport, a list of your medications and allergies, and records or photos of previous treatments. Arrive without heavy makeup so the doctor can examine your skin.
Can I get treatment on the same day as the consultation?
For many non-surgical treatments, yes. The doctor decides after examining your skin, and some treatments require a waiting period or a test first.
Will I receive a written price before treatment?
Ask for one. Korean clinics must inform patients of prices for non-covered services, and a written quote should show the treatment, number of sessions and whether 10% VAT is included.
Do I have to accept the treatment plan the doctor recommends?
No. You can ask questions, request alternatives or take time to decide. Treatment should start only after you agree and sign the consent form.
What do I receive after treatment?
You should receive aftercare instructions, a receipt and, if medication is prescribed, a prescription to take to a pharmacy.
